Who we are
Bromelia is a Tanzanian biotechnology and sustainable cleaning company. We transform pineapple peel into enzyme-based cleaning products for homes and businesses. Our name is inspired by bromelain, a natural enzyme found in pineapple.
Our story
Every year, large amounts of pineapple peels are thrown away. When organic waste breaks down without enough oxygen, it can release methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Yet those same peels still contain active cleaning potential, including bromelain — the pineapple enzyme that inspired Bromelia.
We use fermentation technology to unlock that value and extract enzyme-rich ingredients for cleaning. The result is a practical cleaning approach made without extra harsh detergents or harsh synthetic chemicals, supported by natural preservatives and essential oils.

Our circular economy approach
Pineapple processing creates organic peel waste. We use fermentation to extract its enzyme potential for our cleaning formulas, then use the remaining material as organic fertilizer. This gives both the enzyme extract and the leftover peel a useful role in a more circular value chain.
Our future
We are starting with four everyday cleaning products. Over time, Bromelia aims to grow into a parent brand for practical, biotechnology-based consumer products made in Africa.
